When it comes to shipping to Cyprus there are regulations in place for the use of EU members and Non EU members. With removal goods if they are being shipped by sea the documents that you require are SAD T2L and OBL or express Waybill and a packing list. When documents are being shipped to Cyprus by air the documents that are required are AWB under ‘C’ status and a packing list. These are the documents that are required by EU members.

For non EU members the documents that are required for removal goods are as follows:

• Packing List.
• Shipper’s passport
• House contract showing rental or
  purchase of property
• Letter from employer confirming his
  employment if working in Cyprus
• Letter from Children’s school
  confirming their registration

When it comes to duty and tax on imported items, for EU members there will be no duty or tax to be paid on new or used items. For non EU member countries there will be no duty or tax on used household items and personal effects provided the following apply:

• Consignee’s normal place of residence has
  been outside the EU for a continuous period
  of at least 12 months prior to transfer of
  residency to Cyprus.
• Goods are imported within 12 months of
  transfer of residency
• Goods have been owned and used by the
  consignee in their former place of residence
  for at least 6 months prior to transfer of
  residency

When it comes to the inspection of goods and personal effects, all shipments from non EU members are inspected whether they are being shipped by air or by sea. You as the shipper are required to be present for the clearance through customs, however your residency permit isn’t. it is important to remember:

• Goods granted relief might not be sold, lent,
  pledged, hired-out, or transferred to any third
  party during the 12-month period following
  importation.
• Alcoholic & Tobacco products, or articles for
  use in the exercise of a trade or profession
  are not eligible for Personal Relief
• Customs Examination, at residence for FCL
  containers or at Port / Airport of Arrival for
  LCL / Air shipments, may be required at
  Customs’ discretion
