    5 Quickfire Pinner Facts

    1. Ghostly Goings On
Two ghosts are said to haunt Pinner. The first is reportedly the granddaughter of Lord Nelson, who when leaving The Queen’s Head pub one night was knocked down and killed by a passing horse. The other is the Beast of Pinner, a feline creature, the size of a horse but with ‘burning red eyes’. Local stories tell of a panther that escaped from the 2nd Earl of Middlesex’s menagerie. The animal escaped, killing the earl in the process before scared locals hunted it down and set on fire. It’s believed to be stalking the villagers to this day.
    2. All’s Fair
Pinner Fair dates back to 1336 when King Edward III awarded Pinner a Royal Charter to hold their own annual fair “And the good times doth roll!” The event that takes place every May includes dancing, stalls, street food and general merriment.
    3. Hey, isn’t that…?
Pinner has been home to some very notable residents from a variety of different backgrounds including; Sir Ronnie Barker (writer/comedian), Sir David Suchet (actor), Simon LeBon (singer, Duran Duran), Sir Patrick Moore (astronomer), Michael Rosen (children’s author), WS Gilbert (opera writer, half of Gilbert & Sullivan), Jane March (actress and original ‘Sinner from Pinner), Heath Robinson (cartoonist) and Lucy Porter (comedian).
    4. Mrs Beeton
Having married Mr Samuel Orchart Beeton (a renowned publisher) a year before, Isabella Beeten wrote a monthly 48-page magazine, The Englishwoman’s Domestic Magazine. The 24 instalments were later published as Mrs Beeton’s Book of Household Management, the book had tips on everything from cleaning to complementing guests, (many of them quirky or downright bizarre by today’s standards) and over 900 recipes (mostly sent in by the magazine readers) became a huge success making Mrs Beeton a household name.
    5. Reginald Dwight
Pinner’s most famous son, the shy and awkward Reginald Dwight went through quite a rock n roll transformation to emerge as Elton John. One of the biggest recording artists of all time he and writing partner Bernie Taupin have released 31 studio albums, written 4 musicals (The Lion King, Aida, Billy Elliot, Rocketman), won 2 Oscars, 6 Grammys, 1 Tony, 5 Brits, 2 Golden Globes, 10 Ivor Novello Awards, 1 MTV award and sold more than 300,000,000 records!

    Thank You Over’s

See what Over’s customers are saying…

Darryn and Kyle, the two removal men were just brilliant in carrying out their duties. Nothing was too much trouble. They are an asset to your company and great Ambassadors for your business. My wife and I felt on occasions they went above and beyond the normal service and went out of their way to help ease the process and stress of moving.

    - Andy Cookson – June 2021

The two crew movers that moved me are exceptional. Polite, hardworking, and professional. Nothing was too much, no problems or complaints. They packed, moved me out, and moved me in. Constantly ensuring everything was where I wanted it and fine tune placement of my items. I could not have moved in without their, and the team at Armishaws efforts. Thank you for getting (injured) me, and my family in our new home safe and complete.

    - Alan Edmunds - June 2021

Excellent removals experience on a two day local move in Somerset. Despite hail, the removals men did a fantastic job, and kept a sense of humour throughout. Nothing was too much trouble putting things where we wanted them in various sheds when we arrived. Toby and Ben made the experience SO much more fun, and less stressful. Cannot recommend them too highly.

    - Helen Williams – May 2021
