Why our customers trust our Whitchurch removals…

    5 Quickfire Whitchurch Facts

    1. Early DaysThe earliest signs of life to have been uncovered in Whitchurch revealed there were settlers here as early as the Iron Age. Romans arrived bringing more advanced agriculture and buildings before the Saxons moved in. The Romans also brought roads and a major route ran through Whitchurch connecting it with Salisbury, Silchester, Winchester and London, marking it as an important place.
    2. Boom TownWhitchurch continued to thrive, by 1086 it was in the 20% of the largest towns in England. The Domesday book recorded it had 54 villagers, 82 smallholders 33 slaves, 26 acres of meadow, with 5 mills, 1 church and was owned by the Bishop of Winchester. Things didn’t go so well in the 14th century when half Whitchurch’s population died of the Black Death.
    3. Going for Gold!Another interesting piece of Whitchurch history was dug up in October 1987. Members of the Andover Metal Detecting Club struck gold with a hoard of Iron Age coins, now known as ‘The Whitchurch Hoard’. In total the lucky gold diggers unearthed, 34 Gallo-Belgic E gold slaters (early coins) and 108 British slaters.
    4. Pubs & PursesBy the 17th century life had definitely slowed, The Star newspaper wrote of Whitchurch, “People who live IN it call it a town. People who live OUT of it call it a village. It is about as big as a good-sized pocket handkerchief. It has three shops and 19 public houses.” But that interesting produce to pint ratio does hint at what was possibly more important to the people of Whitchurch at that time.
    5. Bright EyesOne notable Whitchurch resident was Richard Adams, author of Watership Down. The charming tale (no pun intended) of a group of rabbits was set in the South Downs in Hampshire. Charles I also stayed in the town during the English Civil War, not long before he was sent back to London and where he totally lost his head!

Darryn and Kyle, the two removal men were just brilliant in carrying out their duties. Nothing was too much trouble. They are an asset to your company and great Ambassadors for your business. My wife and I felt on occasions they went above and beyond the normal service and went out of their way to help ease the process and stress of moving.

    - Andy Cookson – June 2021

The two crew movers that moved me are exceptional. Polite, hardworking, and professional. Nothing was too much, no problems or complaints. They packed, moved me out, and moved me in. Constantly ensuring everything was where I wanted it and fine tune placement of my items. I could not have moved in without their, and the team at Armishaws efforts. Thank you for getting (injured) me, and my family in our new home safe and complete.

    - Alan Edmunds - June 2021

Excellent removals experience on a two day local move in Somerset. Despite hail, the removals men did a fantastic job, and kept a sense of humour throughout. Nothing was too much trouble putting things where we wanted them in various sheds when we arrived. Toby and Ben made the experience SO much more fun, and less stressful. Cannot recommend them too highly.
